Frequently Asked Questions

Are parents allowed back?

We encourage your involvement in your child’s dental care. Parents are welcomed to accompany their child in the treatment area during examinations and all appointments except sedation. This gives us the chance to teach you and the child the skills and tips for maintaining beautiful smiles but also provides you the opportunity to see how we interact with children and to ask any questions you may have.

How can i help the appointment go well?

We do ask that when you accompany your child for treatment, you assume the role of a silent observer. Your presence is greatly enhanced if you play a passive role because if more than one person is speaking to the child, he/she may become confused. The presence or absence of the parent sometimes can be used to gain cooperation for treatment. There may be times when the child’s experience is enhanced by parent’s absence to gain the patient’s attention, improve compliance, avert avoidance behaviors, and establish appropriate dentist-child roles.

WhAt if my kid asks about “shots”?

Let your child know that the dentist and the staff are going to explain everything they do. Don’t talk about “needles,” “shots,” or any of those words that will sound scary to your child. For example, we say we use “sleepy juice” to numb the tooth and “wiggle it out” instead of extract. We will explain everything using language that is non-frightening to your child.

Do you take insurance?

The following is a list of insurance companies that our office is an in-network provider for. The plans must be PPO plans in order for us to file them.
⦁ Aetna
⦁ Ameritas
⦁ Assurant
⦁ Cigna
⦁ Guardian
⦁ Premier
⦁ Principal
⦁ The Standard

We can file any PPO plan in our office. If it is not one of the plans listed above we would be considered out-of-network. We are not Medicaid providers.

If we have received all of your insurance information before the day of the appointment, we will be happy to file your claim for you. You must be familiar with your insurance benefits, as we will collect from you the estimated amount insurance is not expected to pay.

By law your insurance company is required to pay each claim within 30 days of receipt. We file all insurance electronically, so your insurance company will receive each claim within days of the treatment. You are responsible for any balance on your account after 30 days, whether insurance has paid or not. If you have not paid your balance within 60 days a re-billing fee of 1.5% will be added to your account each month until paid. We will be glad to send a refund to you if your insurance pays us.
